About NEOGEO

NEOGEO is a volunteer professional community serving GIS practitioners, vendors, and geospatial enthusiasts across Northeast Ohio and the wider Great Lakes region. For over a decade, the organization has aimed to brin together GIS practitioners, vendors, and other geospatial communities to exchange ideas on new uses, best practices, and cutting edge technologies in the GIS world, growing into a vibrant gathering point for the profession.

Our flagship event, the Great Lakes GeoSymposium (formerly the Northeast Ohio GIS Symposium), is an annual regional conference that draws geospatial professionals from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, offering a chance to engage directly with GIS technology users across private industry, government, and academia.

The event blends keynote speakers, technical sessions, workshops, exhibitor showcases, and networking opportunities with recent programming covering topics like geospatial AI and emerging technologies, real world case studies from local governments and the private sector, and skill building workshops.

The GeoSymposium has historically been organized by a small, dedicated team of geospatial professionals, reflecting NEOGEO's roots as a grassroots, practitioner-led effort to strengthen the regional GIS community.

Getting Involved

NEOGEO runs on the energy of volunteers, and we're always looking for more people to join the effort. Whether you can help plan sessions, coordinate logistics, greet attendees, or support the GeoSymposium in any other way, there's a place for you on the team no matter how much or how little time you have to give.

Can't commit to volunteering right now? We'd still love to hear from you. Your ideas and feedback help shape future Symposiums, so if you have thoughts on speakers, session topics, workshops, or anything else you'd like to see, please share them with us using this form.
